How Often Should You Tone Blonde Hair?

If you've ever left the salon loving your fresh, shiny colour and wondered, "How long is this going to last?" — you're not alone!

Toner is one of our favourite ways to refresh your colour, add shine, and keep unwanted tones at bay. But how often you need one depends on your hair and the look you're trying to maintain.

So, how often?

For most guests, a toner can last anywhere from 4–8 weeks. Factors like how often you wash your hair, the products you use, heat styling, sun exposure, and even swimming can affect how quickly it fades.

If you're blonde, a toner can help keep your colour looking fresh and neutralize unwanted yellow or brassy tones. For brunettes and redheads, toners and glosses can refresh faded colour, enhance richness, and bring back that beautiful shine.

How do you know it's time?

If your colour is starting to look:

  • Brassy or warmer than you'd like

  • Dull or faded

  • Less vibrant

  • A little different from when you left the salon

…it might be time for a refresh!

Our tip: You don't always need a full colour appointment to make your hair look freshly done. Sometimes a quick toner or gloss is all you need to bring back the shine and refresh your colour.
